This past Thursday, September 22nd, WLTL welcomed their first band of the year into the studio, the rising indie band The Go Round. WLTL was lucky enough to snag an interview and in-studio performance with the band.
The Go Round is a Brooklyn based indie band who released their EP, “Eastern Parkway”, last Tuesday, September 20th. The band played at the Elbo Room concert venue in downtown Chicago following the interview, and is currently touring many other cities.
The interview was conducted by me [Lisa Jonas] and Teddy Salazar. Though nervous for our first interview of the year in the studio, as well as the bands first radio interview, it was a great time. We got to know the members Brandon, Rich, Scott, and Theo and see what made the group come together to form their style. The band features an acoustic sound on their first record, “Gone”, but their newest EP contains a newer distinct sound due to the addition of Scott on drums and Theo on fiddle.
The band performed songs from both “Gone” and “Eastern Parkway”. Check out their performance of “Mammoth” from their website below! And as always, listen to WLTL to hear more of The Go Round and other new music!

Football is back. People can finally stop going to church and sit on their to couch to watch some good old fashion football. One thing that I’m disappointed in is that I haven’t seen Peyton Manning take the field. Without him, the Colts are lost, now 0 and 2. If Peyton Manning does not return to the Colts, then you can kiss their playoff hopes good bye. Another thing that I am disappointed, but not surprised, is the Bears offensive line. Martz was raving about there new and improved offensive line and how they will protect Cutler. The past weeks game against the Saints showed a true face of the offensive line against a good time. The offensive line let up more than five sacks last game against plus all the times that he was rushed. One bright spot during the game though was Matt Forte. With his rushing yards combined with the receiving yards, he is a dynamic back, as seen in Week 1 where he single handedly changed the game against the Falcons. My final disappointment is Ryan Grant this year so far. The running back for the Green Bay Packers hasn’t had a great impact for them this year. With only about fourty yards in the 2 wins for the Packers isn’t a game changer. Put in James Starks and see if he can offer more as a starter. You can hear more about this on the Thursday Night Sports Show on WLTL 88.1 FM

| Oh hi didn’t see you there. Well you probably are wondering why my feet hurt. Tonight I was able to go see this band called Kids These days. Kids These Days was the break out band of Lollapalooza 2011. I was fortunate enough to see them at Lollapalooza, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about or reminisce the epicness of seeing them live on that hot August day. No tonight I was able to see them again live at DePaul University in Chicago. Me and several other managers took the train down town to see them tonight for free in the student center. They were absolutely exceptional as was expected out of a band of their caliber, but what really shocked me was the stage presence the band brought. We got to the student center about thirty minutes early, and it was like any other college common area students eating relaxing working and just being college students on a Wednesday night. At exactly six the band went on, and it was like a giant magnet had been switched on. People were sucked down the stairs and pulled away from the walls to the center of the building. The music sucked everyone in form every corner of the room. The crowd quickly grew from 50 people to a couple of hundred in a matter of minutes. The band just sucked you in with Vic Mensa smooth lyrics and Nico Segal and J.P. Floyd passionately blasting their collective hearts out, or dancing them out. By the end of their one-hour set the air in the room was electric filled happiness and good times. Liam Cunningham’s voice was just as stunning. No it was because they wanted to be there in front of their fans new and old. To often today we see bands form hit it big and dissolve so quickly after they make a quick buck off a single, or change drastically because they lose who they are for the money. So then they conform to a certain sound for a record label to be marketable I don’t for see this problem for KTD because they aren’t in it for the money they are in it for the love of music and each other. The energy around them is amazing whether you see them with several thousand of your closest friends at lollapalooza or with a few hundred at a local college. When you see Kids These Days it doesn’t feel like some mass marketed pop band where they go on stage and its work. When Kids These Days steps on stage it feels like best friends having the time of their life doing what they love. Definitely keep Kids These Days on your radar. So yeah in a nutshell my feet hurt from going to see this awesome band. So go check them out!! Now!
